The
Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe of Washington is hoping to raise more than $4 million for various projects on the reservation.
One of the biggest is a facility to house more than 67,000 tribal artifacts that were dug up at
Tse-whit-zen, an ancestral village.
The tribe also wants money for a $2 million Head Start building in order to move the existing facility out of a tsunami zone.
The tribe is hosting state and federal officials, along with banking and nonprofit representatives, on Friday in hopes of coming up with ways to raise money for the projects.
